So I have 2 questions.
1) would boiled pieces of meat (any type) be good for the snails? as a supplement to their diet
2) is it true that they can eat eggshells as a calcium supplement? (I know about cuttlebone, but I have an easier access to eggshells, and they'd be an extra.

I don't think snails eat meat in the wild. I don't know of anyone who gives meat to their snails.
Most people who give eggshells to their snails grind them into a powder before offering it. I've heard of snails not rasping on whole eggshell but eating the powder.

we have stray cats we feed in our back garden and the slugs and snails all try eating the cat food so they must like meat and in the wild they may eat dead animals? I would try mine with meat but never sure what meat they would be able to eat

I agree that they can and will eat meat, the trouble with various veg is they can be low in protein, which of course they need. I feed mine on damp fish flakes which they LOVE with no problems atall and i know others who do the same, some feed soggy dog buiscuits, some feed prawns and some feed them on steak! - lucky snails! but i agree that in the wild they would likely stumble across animal carcasses and have a munch on them - and probably their bones too for calcium! Just beware of salt content of anything you do feed them because obviously salt isnt good for them edit: i use fish flakes as an occasional supplement along with lots of fruit and veg

limestone flower I think I can find locally...and I was thinking either chicken or fish. And yes slugs and snails do eat catfood...I have 2 cats which live in a small house in the backgarden...and I find alot * Tread is locked, because there's too many same named treads around here. Let's write here next time we have some question or something else to say & from protein you can talk elsewhere on some feeding topic.. -> petsnails.proboards.com/index.cgi....lay&thread=8421 - CroSSLeSS *
