I'm currently having problems locating one of teh suggested substrates on the website. I was wondering if a biodegradable pet bedding made of reclaimed pulp waste that has been processed to remove potentially harmful aromatic hydrocarbons that exist in pine and cedar oils, as well as been sterilized, would be ok TEMPORARILY. I just want to move my lil guy into his tank tonight if at all possible (assuming i find the right cover for the tank too). I've been to 4 local pet stores thus far and have struck out everywhere on teh proper substrates suggested.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on places that would carry the substrates I'd appreciate it. I live in USA so no UK stuff please >.>. I'm going to be trying petco tonight after work which at that point I'm officially out of local pet store/suppliers that are in my area if they don't have what I need.

Oh also, would soem coral be ok to put in the tank for my snail to climb on? it had alot of nooks and stuff so I thought it might like it but want to make sure its safe first. It's supposedly natural corel and it will be sterilized for use if you guys think it would be ok.

It won't do them any harm to be without substrate for a short while. I'd rather that than try something I wasn't sure about. If you do use something else, it has to be something designed to hold high humidity.
Garden centres often sell coir (coconut soil/peat) and sphagnum moss, and probably peat and sterile soil and so on as well. If you get stuck, there's always ebay! And you can probably find somewhere online that will deliver to you, though that doesn't help you right now.

PetCo and PetSmart carry coir in the reptile supply section. To tide over your snail, try moistened paper towels in the bottom of the tank, and keep an eye on them to prevent them drying out. They don't have to be sopping wet, but moist to the touch.

Thank you all very much ^_^ I was able to get some coconut soil from petco (as well as some drift wood stuff for him to climb on!)
