I brought a bit oevr two months ago without knowing just how old he is they just said baby. He was fairly small, just over an inch shell length. Recently he's had a sudden growth spurt and grew a lot, mostly the width and his body. Still not huge though. His shell is roughly two and a half inches or just over and his body stretched out a fair way goes to 4" heres a picture : And some more i posted in the pictures thread : petsnails.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=snailpictures&action=display&thread=8510Can you tell if he's growing at a good speed too? Thank you!

I've got 3 albino retics that I got as 1cm babies 6 months ago, 1 of them has a nearly 6 inch shell already, while the other 2 are approx 3 inch shells, they are all in the same tank so under the same conditions and have access to the same food yet one dwarfs the other 2. I guess growth rates are down to the individual snail, just make sure there is plenty of calcium available, also it is worth adding a few drops of liquid calcium to your spray bottle ( I use a liquid calcium with vitamin d3 in it to compensate for lack of sunlight). Snails do seem to have sudden growth spurts and your snail seems perfectly healthy and normal. Picture was about a month ago Attachments:

It's true that snails from the same clutch of eggs will grow at different rates, even when raised under the same conditions. It can be difficult to tell the age based on size alone.
