hi all yesterday i recieved 3 snails ( my first ever!!) 2 albino reticulatas, and i think the other is a fulica?. anyway 1 is really teeny (cheryl) and the other 2 are bigger ( simon and louis, danni is arriving next week ;D) simon has spent most of his time hanging upside down under a plant leaf, louis is the most active and has been out and eaten, but cheryl hasnt moved much i put her on some food today but she didnt eat,i checked to see if shes alive today and she seems to be.i have a heat mat but i dont think its working properly, and as my house isnt centrally heated i hope theyre not too cold,is this normal snail behaviour? im new to snails and would appreciate any afvice,as i want my snails to be happy and healthy thanks all

First thing to do with any snail-related problem is check the temperature A thermometer may well be the most useful item of equipment you have when they start having problems. It doesn't have to be expensive - a cheap glass fish tank thermometer is ideal. Keep an eye on it over a 24 hour period so you know the highest and lowest temperatures - that'll tell you if they need extra heating. (The retics probably will, especially if your house isn't very warm.) Aside from that, if they only arrived yesterday they are probably still recovering from their long journey; they can take a while to settle in.
