Spray the side of the tank around them with water then gently slide the snail along the wet bit - if that doesn't make it let go entirely, it's usually enough to get a finger between them and the glass - or a pencil point or teaspoon-handle if they're tiny. Careful to avoid the leading edge of the shell when you grab them - it's fragile

I use for growing snail knitting needle or toothpick as help if would be too risky put finger under foot if snails is inside shell and foot is really tightly next to glass.

Spraying the side of the tank and sliding them usually works for me.

With my bigger ones I would sometimes touch them gently between the eye stalks so they retracted their head and usually lifted their foot up a little bit so I could slip a finger underneath. I wouldn't recommend it with smaller ones though. (These were adult fulica.)

It's trickier with the smaller snails.

I have noticed it's easier slide toothpick under small snails foot and support from shell that it won't fall when foot if off from side of tank.
