I'm assuming you're asking about the tropical variety. You can generally find some other forum members that keep colonies of the little blighters will sell a 'starter culture' to you; I'm developing a rabble myself (not enough to sell on though) and they're fascinating to keep. As with snails, being as they're tropical it's best to wait until the weather warms up before having any posted to you; they won't appreciate the cold whilst in transit. Alternative clean-up crews are springtails and worms, though I can't advise on either of those (as yet)

I wouldn't worry too much - they're probably just elusive and so are much harder to find, a bit like the woodlice

Are you willing to sift through the substrate? I'll be facing that myself soon, not only to round up the woodlice but to find all the baby garlic snails that were a surprise gift from Mr G before he passed away.

coyote, wnt looking for worms last night and didnt find one worm! they must be VERY good at hiding, prhaps i should sieve the soil and see what i find, but i did have a really good dig around for them,id really like to clean the tank out as i did find a bit of mould on a piece of soil, even tho i agitate it every couple of days

I've tried to put worms in my tanks, but they died quite soon and seemed to disintegrate, because I never found them. Or maybe the snails ate the dead ones.

I planning to buy some compost worms they can handle more warmer that earth worms, earth worms can't much handle hotter than +15degrees. I have to wait next change to buy worms, I forgot to ask of them from recycle center i was so keen that I got new tank for snails..
