Our snail, Frank, may I fear be an ex-snail. He has dissapeared so far into his shell you can barely see him. He has only come out once in the last month and then he looked shrivelled and unhappy, his foot was crunckled on the base. To me he seems very dehydrated, but I can't get him to wake up for food or water.
Any tips on waking him up?
If I can't wake him, how can I be sure he is dead?
Feeling very sad.
We've enjoyed having Frank as a pet, but he is only two.

You can put him to rest in a shallow bowl of warm water, and he'll absorb some through his skin even if he doesn't come out for a swim. You'll have to keep checking the water temperature as it'll drop quickly and he'll probably benefit from an extended rest in there. If he's dead, he will quickly start to whiff a bit. That's usually the best way to tell. Good luck

Thank you. I'll give it a go, but I'm pretty sure he's had it; he has a faint aroma, not strong just a hint, but I think it may be an early sign of rot.
