hi all is it safe to put a primrose plant into my snails tank? couldnt see it on the safe plants list or poisonous list, thought they might add a bit of colour to the tank, and theyre only 49p at my local homebase just now ;D even if the snails eat them thats cheap ;D

I haven't heard of anyone trying primroses in their tank, so I'm not sure. I'm inclined to say they're okay, but I have nothing scientific to base that on.
I can't recall offhand if primroses have hairy stems or foliage; if they do, snails will be averse to climbing on them or trying to eat them. So if you do try them in the tank, the snails might actually leave them alone.

Yes saw this tread in other forum two and this is what I think is rules for plants for snail tank: I think it's ok to put in. Just check that it don't break too much. Some plants can't stand that if some stems cut off too often, snails aren't too tender when climbing. I have few rules for plants for snail tanks. It has to like humid. Plants should not break if you touch it to check if it safe enough for snails so stems have to be strong so snails won't fall down when climb and snail won't fall off it too easily. And you have to check does plant need to have growing in peace or can they be little bit disturbed some plants don't like too much of touching other wise they drop their leaves. Make sure that too that plant doesn't work as insecticide, there's some plants that are those ones, I don't know can those be bought from florist. I just last summer checking what plants can be given to snails I found that kind of plant in wild, it smelled so horrible that I never got too near it. Could do harm snails I'm not sure.

looking at the nontoxic list i saw african violets are on there and if i remember correctly primroses are in the same family as african violets so i'd think primroses would be safe too but i'd have to research a bit to double check
