The other day, when I looked in my snail tank in the morning I noticed that one of my millipedes had died (I keep millipedes, woodlice and earthworms in with my snails). When I got back after work, I looked in the tank and most of the millipede was gone. A small snail was happily eating the last part of it that was left. After he had finished, all that remained of the millipede was a few rings of exoskeleton.
At least I don't have to remove the dead millipede now!

The little'uns will eat anything, won't they!
Are they giant millipedes or common garden variety?

They are just the normal garden variety. All of the invertebrates in my tank are from my garden.
When the little snail ate the millipede it really didn't surprise me as they had been eating another of my snails which had an open wound. I think (as people had pointed out on this forum) that the baby snails were just eating the dead flesh.
What I thought was really cool though, was the fact that there were a bunch of little rings left behind, which were obviously body segments of the millipede's exoskeleton.

What kind of snails are they? Perhaps some Oxychilus species?
