Hiya guys i have put my groves tank on my desk in my room so they can look out of window . The only thing i have noticed is that they now come out at certain times which im fine with but also the soil stays damp but goes quite warm well very warm which dosent bother the snails (and a blooming plant is growing!!! i have to stop giving them sunflower seeds!) will this lead to early eggs or late eggs as on the website it said helix aspersa's lay eggs before rainy season is that the same with groves? and if it is what month would rainy season be. They all are happy except one which i got 2 days ago which is a yellow grove, i found her in the park with a crack in her shell which wasnt bad so i left her alone in my tank, her foot was really far into her shell and i can see that she is breathing but she cant come out because she is traped in her shell (you know when a snail is about to poke eyes out well she is like that but in side the shell) i was just wondering if she might die and should i break some of her shell of the help her come out, i think the shell has grown to fast which has caused her to be traped. I know she is alive i keep her moist i just need to know quickly!!! PS: she dosent smell....

First of all, is there anywhere else you could put the tank? If they're anything like most other snails they get grumpy with light shining on them. I do believe it's normal for them to only come out at certain times (if not I've got a problem too!) they do need rest, mine come out at night for a while, have a bit of something to eat & explore then go back & will only come out again before that if they're picked up to be moved or handled. The warmth should be fine as long as it's still damp. If I was you I would just leave her & see how she gets on, breaking the shell might just make things worse. You're doing the best you can already for her, all you can do now is wait & see how she does. I don't really know much about breeding so can't help with that, sorry

Ok thanks mine come out at night and in the morning and go to bed when i go to bed (9:00pm) But then when its past 12:00am they all wake up and start to move around and then go to sleep when its 9:00pm. I have left the yellwo snail alone but i have left her for 4 days and she hasn't moved its rare i find alive yellow groves now (too many people killing them ) lucky i found her when i was walking my dog with my mom in park (she was in middle of tangled acient path, when my dog ran past she knocked snail out of my hand but i found it again) i have tried water but she cant seem to move and her heart rate has gone slower!!!! she can hardly move and i really need help, should i gently do a cut so she can move? first ill try it out on a empty shell.

Try to give her extra calcium, sprinkle it on her food to make sure she gets some. And next time you see a snail do something like this, leave it be to sort itself out. I have seen many instances in this forum where someone has intervened only to make things worse, when if they had left the snail alone it would have wound up being okay.
I know it can be hard to be patient, but sometimes we have to set aside our own impatience for the greater good of our snails.

She's eating calcium, that's great, it's what she needs the most, she just needs rest now, she's a little fighter, she'll get through it ;D it's a shame people are so ignorant & kill them, we need more snail lovers!
I agree with coyote, calcium you can sprinkle on food is good. You can get it easily too so it would be great to try her with some of that.

Awwwww I've seen you've named her Buttercup? That's a really pretty name all of your snails have lovely names. I've only named one of mine (Ronnie) I couldn't tell any of the others apart then so didn't name them, I can now though just about so will have to think of some names!

aww cute im over run with non adlt snails and only3 adults!! Unfortunaltly she died she had llet water through the gap (my fault for spraying her organs so the dont drie out) when i wet tem the waer pased through the shell and the day before i ded i noticed air bubblesin her shel so i started to gently push her foot to pump the water out but it was too late it had drowned her organs and brain. (you know like if you get water in your brain you can die that wat happend to her )
