I was wondering if anyone here could help, this is confusing me so much, I also feel really bad because it seems like I'm not looking after them proper I have 5 Subulina Octanas, they were ordered on the 28th March & came shortly after so I've had them around 2 weeks. They are all adults & carrying eggs. I was told the eggs should hatch in a few days. I've only had 1 egg laid & hatched & sadly he didn't survive The adults are in a tub which the seller kindly gave me to keep them in. The compost is kept damp enough so it sticks to your fingers but isn't wet through. They are fed lots of different kinds of fruit & veg which they do well at eating. They also have cuttlefish in their tank even though they're said not to need it (mine seem to be around it a lot but I don't know if it's just something they happen to rest on) the adults seem very happy, always out & eat loads ;D the room they're in is always warm enough. I've contacted the seller about this & she's said hers have laid all their eggs & so has anothers she's spoke to & hers is even laying more, she's been fantastic, couldn't have been any better, she said to message her back if they hadn't laid but I feel like I'm bothering her too much. The adults seem happy enough but they may not be & it's them i'm worried about the most. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for me please?

Hmmh.. Easiest to see if peat is damp enough if you take some to your hands squeeze it and if it holds it shape when you open your hand and don't drain water it's done. If some species needs really much humidity it wise to then moisture substrate till it hold it's shape while you had once squeezed and then some water comes out of it while you squeeze it.

It sounds like you're doing everything right, as far as I can tell. I can't think of what else to suggest, other than to ask if maybe you've somehow overlooked more eggs hidden away somewhere in the tank?

Oh thanks so much both of you, you're lifesavers ;D I'll be going up soon to spray the tanks & feed them & the hammy so I'll have a good look through for eggs & test their compost. You've both been so much help to me, thank you ;D Hopefully I should get some healthy babies soon!
