just give a simple talk on the breed, where it comes from a map of the world would be good then children can see which part of the world they come from and then i would say some easy and general information on how to keep them and what they like to eat, remember to make it fun as this keeps children interested, they will get bored easy if your too serious, and good luck, and have fun

Can you take pics of the event, or have someone take some for you? I think it would be fun to see pics of how the children respond to the snails.

will do, i spoken to them about it today and they have asked if it is ok to take pics as they would like to do a display about it, so i will ask them if i can have copies, i will also have to ask the parents if it is ok to put the pics on here (legal stuff) but yeah i will be doing it next wednesday, they have said for me to take as many species as i can so the children can see the diffrerent shapes and sizes

Its hard work to keep them interested We have one comming up and i have been asked to take 4 different kinds of pets snails, reptiles, stick insects and mantis our nursery have said just snails will keep them interested for all of 5 mins as they don't do any thing well not at speed. I can't decide if i want to do it or not. 1 other parent has said they will do it they are taking a dog and a cat so a bit of a difference the kids can play with a dog and stroke a cat what can they do with a snail lol. I know its about them learning about where they come from, what they eat and so on but how do you make a geography lesson exciting. I hope you enjoy it, let us know how you do.

I think snails are much more interesting. You could let them hold them, I think they'd be fascinated at the size of them compare to a common garden snail. It doesn't have to be lecture, just an experiance. Good luck

Yes. You could print out an easy to read sheet for them to give to their parents if they're interested? Or the school could keep it, and get some snails for a class pet. I mean, snails (especially giant ones) would be so interesting to young children.

Could you take a normal garden snail as a comparison, that would give a good insight into differences?
