hiya all, i have,as said in other posts, helix aspersa... they are kept in captivity and past the last few weeks i have noticed that they keep climbing the walls...why is this? I take them of daily and spray them lightly with water, so they all come out their shells but after a while, they either go back in to their shells or they climb the walls and stay there... could anyone please help me? thanks in advance, Sharon

In the wild they will climb up branches, trees, walls etc. in order to look for food like tasty fresh leaves and lichen, and also to stay safe from ground predators. Snails like to climb, and it means they're making the most of their tank space if they're wandering around on the walls and ceiling as well as the floor There's no need to take them off the walls, they'll be just fine there. The only time it could be a problem is if they're all completely avoiding going on the floor all the time - there could be a problem such as the substrate being unsuitable and uncomfortable for them to "walk" on, or it could be too wet for them etc. But chances are they're just behaving like normal snails and you have nothing to worry about
