hiya, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is normal that my snail would only lay one egg a week ago and then one more 5 days later??? i was told and have read that they usually lay clusters of at least 5 at a time? I've been reading some of the other posts on here and everyone knows the breed of their snail...i think mine is a west african one it has a pointy shell end??? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you think you could get a picture of your snail? Could help to identify it, since there are many land snails from west africa But what I have noticed with my fulica's is that they tend to sometimes lay like just a few eggs here and there in the tank, and a couple of days later, I can find the big batch of eggs. I don't know if they sort of 'drop' those few eggs I find first, since they are always a bit scattered on top of the substrate, never dug down... So dig through the substrate and check in the plants (if you got any) and possible plant-pots and I'm sure youll eventually find eggs

Most speacies can lay tester eggs a week to a month before they lay a real batch I don't know why they do it but its not very often the tester eggs have been fertilized. A picture would be great to identify him as bumble bee said there is lots of west african land snails. ;D

When you click on "reply," type in your message and then look near the top of the page, under Subject. You will see Attachment, and then a Browse button. Click that to navigate to the file on your computer you want to upload to your post. Select that file, then click Post Reply.
If you have a media-hosting site account (Photobucket, Flickr, Imageshack, Smugmug, etc), you can also just put the URL for that image in your post.

Yes, it's perfectly normal. These are often called "tester" eggs and tend to be laid a little while apart and there are only a few of them, a little while afterwards, and some times not at all, a larger batch is laid. However, if this is the first time your snail has laid eggs they're not likely to hatch.
