Do you want me to sit in the corner and rust, or just fall apart where I'm standing?

OK, I'd really love to keep some of these, seeing this has made me look at other snails from around the world - WOW!!! I found a website selling the Adamsiella pearmaneana (pictured above), its a shell website but when i found it on Google it says 'the majority are sold live'!!!! OH MY GOD!! How do you go about getting these?? Or finding out more about them, all i can find on google is shell sellers. www.george-shells.com/exchange.htmlThe Adamsiella pearmaneana are down near the bottom. Anjie,x.

Ive had people from Brazil offer to send native snails (bulimulus etc...) to me before now

Trying to import animals from outside Europe, particularly inverts is a nightmare. They need a certificate of health (which you can't seem to get for inverts). DEFRA and CEFAS wouldn't give me organisations they trust documents from or any help how to find them. You'd have to get them to send via airmail because you'd never manage shipping because of import restrictions. When I spoke to Demu in Nigeria he was well keen to send me stuff but getting it here was a nightmare. The best way is to try and set up a deal between the overseas sellers and an established importer.

I got a reply from the fella, lol.
Hello Anjie, Thank you for your e-mail. Even I sell landsnails I don't have experience on this. I am located in Voula (seaside) Athens, Greece we have lots of landsnails in the garden but I don't know what species are, if you want I can send alive them. Best regards. George
AWW bless! Not sure what he means by this though - i think he's saying he doesn't know the snails i am talking about but can send the ones he has in his garden! I wonder if they are Aspersa rofl. ;D

i was wondering something...why are the operculums in the shells? how do they kill the snails? do they let the body rot behind the operculum and then sell them? when you find shells like that the operculum is gone.
kind regards
mike

Adamsiella pearmaneana is a Jamaican species, and grows to just over 1/2 inch!

Greek species include the following: thasos.users.btopenworld.com/mollusca.htmIt says: "It can be anticipated that the snail fauna on Thásos will be amongst the largest of the Aegean islands because of its size, range of habitats, and closeness to the Greek mainland."which probably means most of them exist in Greece also.
