I know what you mean, I worry when it takes a long time.
Most of mine were fine, there was one dead actually but I don't believe it was anything to do with the journey - they were well packed, with food, moisture and air. The dead snail looked like it died early on the journey - there was no sign of damage or asphyxiation.
If they're packed well, snails can survive long periods of time - they aestivate and hibernate for months at a time. Hundreds, if not thousands get sent every year with very few problems - I certainly don't blame polyped for the death - I reckon it was just the snails time - we have no idea how old they are because they are wild caught.
I had some sent to me once that got redirected through Italy by mistake - they took 12 days to arrive and were absolutely fine, as I'm sure yours will be.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? Might be worth checking to see if there's any postal problems in your area.

As a postie I would still check at the delivery office as packets are often left to make sure the letters are done ! just ring your local D/O and tell them what your expecting, ask if they have any thing for you and if its OK to come and collect it. Not saying this happens at every office but short staff and increase packets might be why packets are left. im in sussex, as far as i know there are no postal problems, im just worried cos i brought adults so that i could breed

What species are they? They'll be fine I'm sure, I don't see why they wouldn't be to be honest. He sounds like a good guy, they'll be with you soon, so they should be good

Glad they have arrived safe and sound. 1 out of 12 isn't bad for that long in transit.

Polyped's site is www.polyped.de/I've not ordered from him though I know peole who have and have had very good experiences. He deals with some lovely and unusual species. I would suggest doing some research into their care before purchase though - some species can be quite fussy. As for the postage issue that could happen to anyone unfortunately. As for the youtube clip you linked personally I think it was rough. I don't know a snail's threshold for pain but I can imagine that would have hurt, though not likely injured it. Not necessary to press it so hard in my opinion. Did you mean to post the link in this thread? It perhaps needs a thread of it's own if you don't mind me saying so x
