Hi all, I'm new to the forum - I only got my GALS this morning, I don't know exactly what kind they are - some sort of Archachatina I think ( just by going on the advice on the snail identification page). The guy they came, from had no idea. So will have to wait until they get bigger. Just wondered if anyone has encountered snails with only one eye? Horatio has one perfect eye on the left, but on the right there's nothing - not even a long antenna. Like I say I've only had him a little while and he's eating fine and moves perfectly, he's happy, like a regular snail but if any body has any advice or suggestions, please let me know - should I do anything different for him than usual? Many thanks for your time.

It's very possible that the other eye is all present and correct but he's just keeping it tucked in, maybe due to a slight irritation or something. If it hasn't popped out in a week, then maybe it's missing, but it's pretty common for them to move tentacles in and out independently.

Hi Dusk, thanks for the advice. Hopefully it is hiding, but there doesn't seem to be anything at all there, no ridges or bumps. I'll keep you posted.

I suppose it's possible for a snail to be born with only one eyestalk.
Can you get a pic and post it here?
