One of my suppliers from France put a couple of these in a package i recieved last week, not sure of the exacts specie but they are really nice little ones

Is it true though, that cepaea nemoralis that have plain yellow shells also lack the black lip as they lack all dark pigment? I'm never sure when I see the cepaea with plain yellow shells as to which species it belongs to.

Hi, actually I do not think that has something to do with it. There are yellow specimens of either species (also see thre page below). There is, though, a mutant of Cepaea nemoralis with a pale lip, so you can never be really sure without an examination. What is, of course, different between both, is the love dart. Only you would have to have one ;D Also I am not sure the two snails are adults, it looks like the lip is not yet fully formed. Somewhat unsure, because the picture is a bit blurred. Anyway I'll stick with hortensis so far Banded snails (Cepaea)The Love DartKind regards Robert
