Can snails feel stuff through their shells? When i stroke spongbobs shell i just wondered if he'd be able to feel it!

Dangerous Brian comes out of his shell when I stroke him I know tortoises can definately so I reckon that snails can too Please less smilies so messages are nicer to read. - CroSSLeSS

probably, although i dont know for sure. My snails retracts when i touch their shells. It may be just like we feel through our finger nails?

I suspect they can feel something, such as pressure. Maybe like what Katie said, like through our fingernails, or like your foot through your shoe? You won't be able to feel subtle sensations, but you will feel pressure and movement.

I think the same way as Katie and Coyote Mine is very confident and brave so... it never goes in her shell eventhough I touch the shell in anyway

yes, i think they can feel some stuff through their shells. i'd assumed i was mad though, now i can see others agree and i feel a little less mental.

back on topic. I'm fairly sure they can feel through their shells, but maybe not with them. They probably feel the vibrations when they're handled or stroked, and maybe even the presure of being picked up.
