Hello together, young baby-snails often look eqaul, but are there some characteristics that achatina achatina-baby show? Or can I identify them first when they are older?
A friend of mine gets some snails and she is not sure, if they are a.achatinas....

Luckily tigers are much easier to identify than other Achatina. If the shell is pointed but it has a raised V on its tail it is a tiger snail. The raised V will look similar to this: Although that picture is from an Archachatina it gives you an idea what to look for. In the first instance, to determine if the snails are Archachatina or Achatina check this out: www.petsnails.co.uk/index.php?action=species&document=arch_and_a_id#start

newborns have slightly more rounded shells, with wavy reddish stripes, and the shell is sort of 'reticulated' i.e. it has tiny tiny grooves on it. the body colour is sort of light grey. they look quite different from other achatina.

Thank you Paul. The characterstics of a.achatina I know, but I was not sure, if the young snails also show these sings or if they develop first when the snail is growing... Ok, then she must search for the "v" - hope that she can find it @lotsofsnails: thanks a lot - this should help!
