they are the same species but the theory is that the two adults will have to have albino genes in them to produce white babies

So ... if i had a snail which mother was white and father was dark but the baby was dark if it bred with another snail it may have a white baby ? sorry if that was confusing Buse

if the other snail had an albino parent there is a chance i would think but we cant say for sure because we dont know about what genes make a snail albino it could be more than one

I would imagine that the albino gene is recessive and the adult parents would have to be both albinos to produce all albino babies. Or if both parents are heterozygous there is a 1 in 4 chance of having an albino baby.
That's the general rule but nature can be a funnyt thing!!!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be as easy as putting two albinos together and getting all albino babies. I think there must be more at play than we know so far.

The albino gene would be recessive but there are so many variations of what we refer to as albinos that are probably not true albinos so it's hard to tell what's what ie light, white, or true albino etc

Ah Biology!!!! Always plenty more to learn!!!!
What would be a true albino in the snail world??? Would there be any pigmentation in the shells of a true albino snail?
Kathy is right!!! There can never be too much research in the field of Science.

If you look at the shells of the albino snails you'll see that they are just like the "normal"snails .An albino can either have an albino body or albino shell, and I guess both too.
