How do you mean? I know peat may cause some slight damage to their shells, but not as bad as the ones in the picture. I have my snails on peat and their shells are fine. Now I'm having second thoughts about using peat if you are saying that they could turn out like the ones in the pic.

yeah cuz peat is acidic and that causes the shell to ware, and if you don't wash the shell doesn't help either

Peat isnt acidic enough to cause major shell damage. Its nonsense to believe the minor acidity and tanin in peat or peat compost would cause harm. Coir which has been treated in salt (which alot of coir is unless otherwise stated) is more likely to cause harm.
I wouldnt worry sonic.
