Why do I get odd looks from people when I tell them I have snails as pets? I liked them ever since I was a kid, they are easy to keep and adorable little things. ;) Attachments:

Mammals and birds have been the traditional pets in most Western cultures during modern times. Snails aren't emotionally responsive to our attentions the way dogs, cats, hamsters and birds are. Snails are cold and slimy; cats and dogs are warm and fuzzy. It's a cultural thing.

I know its a cultural thing, I am from Cyprus and they find it funny that i should keep snails as pets. The photo above is of Zsa Zsa climbing up the basil pot I placed in the tank last night, no doubt they will eat it this week, basil seems to be a favourite of theirs. Always trying different things to feed them Attachments:

Some are "afraid" of diffenrent animals because they don't have knowledge about them. Then some people have learned to be afraid of some animals because of parrents and then they still keep thinking they are afraid of them because they don't want to change their opinion about some animals.
Like example my dads sisters family are "afraid" of snakes that like on cottages yard, but they only warm up next to barn and after that they go and find food come back before sun set. Then dads sister family think we should "kill them just in case" but case of what when they don't come in yard where we spend time? There's no ideal places for snakes so they leave us alone.
Then some people don't like about something they think some other person should neither like of it. :/
