Greetings: I am new to the forum. I purchased a plant about a month ago and a week or so later discovered that my 10 gallon tank had snails in it. I've been thinking about putting snails in my tank/s but wanted to read up on it first. Apparently nature had other plans and decided to give me a crash course. Could anyone help with identifying the species. I have a video on youtube. Best quality I could muster with my camera. www.youtube.com/watch?v=URzx68Uh8oUThanks Steve T.

Hi Steve, I really try to help you, but in the video I can´t see enough to make any guess. I can´t even decide surely whether the snails are right- or left-twisted. Perhaps you can take a picture (not a movie)? A more or less sharp picture might help enormously. You can take the animal out of the water for one minute with the opening toward the camera, that´s no problem at all. Might be a Radix species (Lymnaeidae) or - if left-twisted - a Physella (Physidae). Kind regards : wolf
