Totally agree with the entertaining statement - they're much more active than my aspersa, and they seem to like to burrow which none of my aspersa do - really fascinating to see differences in behavior. Right now they're in a quarantine tank with a juvenile aspersa - it's pretty neat how they seem to have different sleep patterns. The aspersa is happy to sleep most of the day but the Cepaea just love to explore!

Hello everybody! ^^ I went on snail hunt yesterday after it rained and caught some interesting individuals of C. nemoralis. All of them have got at least two stripes wich are fused together to one stripe, one of them has even got 4 stripes which are fused together to two big stripes. They´re all so beautiful. Two of the snails also have a very light beautiful body. I want to breed them and keep their babies and may release some of the wild caught ones and some of the babies whilst keeping the babies with fused together stripes and light bodies...sounds like a mini-breeding project-I am so excited! I will hopefully be able to post pictures later (when I manage to find my camera xD). Any tips for making them feel extra comfortable in their new home (they´ve got all the basic stuff like deep soil to bury in, calcium, a varied diet , light sprays in the morning and evening, a protein source once or twice per week)?

Thank you! It's my little CB (not by me!) hortensis baby, Cleo. Wow! I love the shell!

Thanks! I think the shell might darken, but at the moment it's an amazing colour.

Montreal: These guys are abundant in my yard, and a little patch of city-owned garden near where I work. Someone earlier in the thread someone mentioned different patterns more common in different places, and it's very true. Near work the single thin stripe morph (see photo below) is the most common, and I never ever see them at home. I've also never seen the morph where all 5 stripes are merged at all. I also noticed the majority of them have pale yellow bodies, but occasionally some of them are very dark green. More photos coming of my "collection", as much as I'd like to keep em all, there's just way too many. Here's "Slick" in his temporary home before he met his friends

Some of my recently acquired nemoralis! Some don't have the dark lip as they're still young/chipped off. I love the one on the right, it has like a light stripe instead of a dark. Reminds me of a Cornu aspersum or Apple Snail shell.

Very cool! The banding on those is amazing! I've only seen un-striped or single-striped Cepaea recently. I've never seen some of those patterns before even in pictures.

Liguus & minineko I know right? I've never seen one like that (pale stripe) in pictures online. It made me question the species, but definitely a Cepaea. I'm in love lol.

I'd love to get a clutch of eggs from that one in the future when he/she is mature!

Love it minineko! Would love to breed a full black one xD that'd be awesome.

Jeez I was just thinking that yesterday! I don't see too much heavy banding, but if they're isolated and bred together maybe we can "make" some nearly black cepaea!

Yes! That one right there would be a perfect candidate as well.

I think I've read that the color inheritance in Cepaea is random, and the offspring could be any color, but I know some areas where the snails are almost all one color morph... Maybe there is more to the color inheritance than once thought...
