I found these guys whilst working in the kennels last weekend, I nearly stepped on poor Felix whilst scrubbing down a kennel with bleach and multi purpose cleaner!! Luckily the detergent got rinsed off in time so he wasn't too badly hurt As far as I'm concerned, I have 4 cepaea nemoralsis and I think Felix is a marble snail?

Hoping that these two will have me lots of lovely babies It will be so interesting to find out what color morphs you get of your babies. Yup, I can't wait! Hoping one or both lay some eggs soon.

Hey Shortie not sure what species a marble snail is, but could Felix be an Arianta arbustorum?

Hi Shortie, I love the way you posted your photos. Princess Peach is a real beauty. vallery Sorry I didn't see this sooner! The 'participated' thingy in the corner wasn't around then so I lost track of some of the threads! Peach has grown a good bit along with the others! And Coily and Turbo are mating as I'm typing this!!! I feel a bit sorry for Turbo having a love dart sticking out his side! Looks rather painful to be quite honest! Speaking of Peach, she's climbing all over them.. She may be a Princess, but she is a trouble maker! How long should the babies take to hatch after the eggs have been laid? I'm rather impatient haha! I'm still waiting for my fulicas to mate though! They're taking ages!

Hi shortie , Sorry for the slow answer. Generally my Cepaea eggs hatch between two to three weeks. Did your Cepaea lay any eggs yet and if so have they hatched? Would love to see some baby pictures. vallery

A week and a half it took for a few to hatch!! I thought it was an unfertile egg at first then I picked it up and there was this little guy! I have a mite problem right now that's spread into most of my snail tanks! So everyone's getting treated for mites including the eggs and babies I just hope they make it. I have a feeling this may be my cepaea's first clutch due to the amount of infertile eggs, but on the same day I found this baby, one of my cepaeas started laying eggs! Oh and I thought Princess Peach was a hortensis, she's fully grown now, MASSIVE, turns out she has a brown lip on her shell!! What a pleasant surprise haha!

Hi shortie, Thank You for sharing that picture. Princess peach is such a beauty. Her shell almost looks iridescent. Love the tone of her skin as well. Love to see more photos of all of your Cepaea. vallery

The 'Join Cepaea Thread" seems kind of useless now for help and educational purposes since the format changed and a lot of the members photos are no longer showing. vallery

Not sure yet how to post photos, my Cepaea are solid yellow and WC here in Ottawa along an abandond railway track. They have bred successfuly and I have many young snails on my hands now. Health wise they are good though mites are a problem with the adult snails at the moment.

Hi everybody I got my nemos in August and got a really good camera last month and I've finally got around to posting my babies here! So I have wild-caught 5 C. nemoralis, all were collected near Vancouver, BC, Canada. First up is Ekki, a yellow morph with 6 bands: Here's a close-up of the shell :> And next is Alek, a unbanded rose morph, I believe? (unfocused pic is bad, sorry XD ...this one's better.) And then there's Skops, who doubled in size since I got him! He's a single-banded yellow morph. Close-up of his pretty purplish stripe~ I also have Desmondo the snail, who's a more greenish shade, with a single band. I wasn't able to get a photo of him that day, but I had a post on the forum with a few pics of him (they weren't very good, as I didn't have my camera at the time) But moving on to the last one! So, this is Melek! He's obviously unbanded, but I'm not sure what colour morph he is? Any ideas? It's like a... purple-wine-mahogany colour? Mel's very pretty Thanks for looking! -SV

Gorgeous snails you have there! And Melek is exceptionally beautiful! I've never seen that morph before.

Thanks to tsrebel and shaydeesnail I'd only seen a picture of a hortensis that was as dark as Melek is on some site when I was researching the Cepaea species, and I promptly freaked out because I reallyreallyreally wanted to find one with that morph! And well... That happened, when my friend found these lovely creatures hanging out around an RV park in Vancouver! But they didn't name morphs on that site either... What I'm thinking is calling it "chestnut morph", because Melek's size and colour resemble a perfect little chestnut

As you can see, there is a variant caled castanea

Tsrebel, Oh of course! Castanea sativa, the sweet chestnut! That works perfectly then thanks!

Hi guys, Figured I should contribute to this thread I have some little Cepaea growing up (I have no idea if it's Nemoralis or Hortensis), and I was taking pictures of them in super-macro mode today. These are wee little ones (about 3-4mm I'd guess, I could measure, but I put them into their house), but I think they're really neat to look at! I'm gonna get macro shots of my adults tomorrow as well
