Oh really, my little yet unnamed snaily got shared second place? Why thank you!
I think all of the snailies here are super cute and have really lovely shells though!
I will get some new pics tonight... now s/he needs a name!
Is the two toned band somewhat of a rarity or something? I only noticed it myself after looking more carefully, and yes there is a white band.

Hi pinkunicorn , Congratulations to you as well. I was simply replying to tsrebels thank you post. Your second place winner along with graemepryces were both extremely lovely and I have never seen single two toned bands before on a cepaea, and of course everyones entries were all really really cute. I hope you will accept your 2nd place certificate and 3rd for your Rose nemoralis. Hi gunshotglitter , Thank You for that nice post I hope you will 3rd place certificates. vallery

Yes, Vallery, they are all from Oslo, Norway. I found another purple one on the same spot today. This one has light skin: As you can see, both are yellow on the oldest whorls. I wonder if this means that the colour has more to do with environment/food than with genetics. I hope they reproduce, so that I can investigate this.

Wow! pinkunicorn :)the color is amazing. The two toned bands are really interesting. I would love to learn more about the coloring and bands of your snail. Haven't a clue were to start though. Have you seen more like this in your area? some more pictures and different angles would be great to see. vallery

I'll try to take some more. I notice the lighter band doesn't show up under direct light except as a bit whiter shade of yellow, but when the light comes from nondirect angle it shows better.
I see a lot of these lemony cepaeas here but often with several bands.

Hi pinkunicorn , The white and dark band together is interesting. I have only seen that on yours and graemepryce's rose morph. All we have here is this type of cepaea both nemoralis and hortensis, the bands vary and the color is usually on the tip of the shells swirl plus a little color on the underside of the shell, nothing as brightly or richly colored yours. There are no unbanded here either. vallery Attachments:

Here is one with a beautiful shell. A cepaea hortensis All of the bands on his shell are fused together making it look like one single huge band. I counted four points so he is actually four banded. He is a Yellow Color Morph And he has lovely dark skin. I found him here in Toronto. vallery Attachments:

Thanks Vallery The shell in his younger whorls is a bit more beat up but a good camera hides that! I found him in Sussex, UK.
