D'awwww! Such a little piggy! In the last picture, it looks like he's saying, "what? Why are you looking at me that way? Is there something on my face?"

Its a non tip dish, i had to get a dish that size for both snails as Sonny tends to eat all the food before Pear gets to it lol. Sonny gets greedy with spirulina so i only feed them it as an occasional treat

Spirulina is water-dwelling cyanobacteria, basically plankton. You can buy it in bulk at some health food stores, as well as online. You can also find it in tablet form in pet stores. Spirulina is extremely nutritious and contains omega-3, as well as an abundance of vitamins and minerals.

I have powdered spirulina i bought from amazon that i mix with a little water for them. Sonny is nearly the size of Pear now and i think he may even get bigger at the rate hes growing lol. Pear is a fussy eater and wont touch spirulina though, but as soon as i put the bowl in the tank Sonny sniffs it out and races to it! I can always tell when he has been eating the spirulina as he happily slimes round the tank with green all over his face

That is hilarious. If there was a funniest snail contest Sonny would win. LOL

Hi , what great pictures and indeed happy looking snails :-). I had a look on Amazon the spirulina is about £9 if I'm looking at the right product. I may look in my local Holland & Barratt see if they do it there or my local reptile store. My Achantina Fulicas are a bit dormant at present so they don't seem to be eating a great deal. Their temperature in the tank is 23-24℃ so I'm hoping as I say it might just be hibernation. But I will definitely try the spirulina , might even try it myself. LOL

LOL Try looking for spirulina pellets, wafers or flakes for your snails - they are sold as fish food and are much cheaper than the spirulina sold for people. You can simply mix them with some hot water to make them nice and soggy and then serve to the snails when cooled. Obviously I would not recommend trying for yourself any spirulina that's not intended for human consumption though

Yes excellent advice , I'd probably turn green. I've just got some more baby GALS which in going to transfer into a tank with a 12 watt heat Matt for my other GALS I've upgraded to a 14 watt heat Matt which I hope will put the temperature upto about 26℃ . Many thanks

Thanks will give it a shot for me and the snails . I could do with a bit of a boost, old age I think!!! :-). But I shall certainly give this a go. Plus I've got some algae flakes which mixed with hot water makes a tasty treat. Once its cooled down , of course. Thank you

I use or rather bought British King Algae Wafers, you can get from Wilkinsons for £2.35 or at Pets at home for £2.55. I shall experiment with my homemade snails food on the weekend and post the results in here. My GALS are bit dormant at the moment but I have upgraded their heat mat and the temperature s now £28. Thanks for your message. :-)

I tried to use those wafers for my snails once and found that they took days to fully soak through, so i just use the powder now. Sorry to go off topic but, Lovefive If the temperature is 28 (or 30 which you stated in another post) your snails should not be dormant it means there is something else is wrong with the conditions and making them go dormant, a common one is that of the tanks being too dry, just test your coir (from your avatar it looks like this is what you are using) you want the coir to be thoroughly moist so if you pick it up you can make a ball that stays relatively well stuck together, it should all look dark and not pale as it does in places on your avatar, hope this helps .

Hi yes I did try the algae wafers today, what a waste of money. Still we live and learn. Regarding my GALS ,yes i think you're right the temperature probably is to hot at around 30℃. I backed one side of the heat mat with cardboard to stop the heat escaping but now think I may have gone to the extreme. Before their temperature was around 23-24℃ which I believe is probably a better temperature for achatina Fulicas so I may take the cardboard of and revert back to the temperature being lower. I use coco fiber as their substrate but as ever your right it do,s feel dry but I worry if I spray the tank to much it creates a lot of condensation then I worry that their too cold. Sorry about this , I know I'm a worrier but it's all a learning curb for me. Many thanks for your advice, help and time.
