Hi guys! I promised pictures of my new snails a couple days ago, and finally got some taken yesterday. All three snails are Helix Aspersas - my first snails ever. They're definitely a very active bunch, especially when I get them out! I had a hard time getting them to stay still long enough for the pictures, lol. In any case, here they are! My three amigos. Far left: Fuller. Middle: Shel. Far right: Walker. I think, lol. They're hard to tell apart. Shel *really* wants that sweet potato - he refused to move his shell the entire time he munched at it! Shel sets out to explore: Shel poses for the camera: "How do I get down so I can keep exploring?" That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed the pics at least half as much as I enjoyed playing with the little guys. Btw, I noticed all three shells look a little, well, beat up. Is that unusual? Is it something that will fix itself over time, or will they always be that way? I'm fine either way. As long as my guys stay healthy, anything else just adds to their character. Thanks!

My aspersa are kind of "beat up" too, I'm pretty sure it's normal. They're super cute!

Hi greyphoenix,
Love the photo of Shel stretching for some sweet potato and the one of Shel posing for the camera, priceless. A little more calcium couldn't hurt for their shells and a little rub of olive oil now and then helps my snails shells, for all my species. Hope to see some more photos of your little cuties on this thread soon. vallery

I have two pieces of cuttlebone in the terrarium, and my snails actually spend quite a bit of time rasping on it. In fact, aside from the ceiling, their favorite sleeping spot is on top of a cork log right next to a piece of cuttlebone. They wake up, rasp a bit on the cuttlebone, and go back to sleep, lol. Hopefully that will give them stronger, healthier shells in the future. I'll definitely have to try the sesame seed oil as well. I plan to wash them with a soft toothbrush in the next week or so, so I'll give it a shot then and see what happens. I love those pics of Shel also, lol. Snails are such natural posers at times! I love it when I glance over at their tank and see the silhouette of a perfect snail pose. It just about takes my breath away. They're sooo adorable! Thanks again for the input! I'll definitely post more pics in the future.

beautiful snails and lovely photos, I can't wait for more piccies! They are right posers, most snails are. I took one of my margies (fenrir) to a celebrate science event and he was a right poser, posing on everyone's hands for lots of photos. they're right camera hogs
