I know a few members, including myself and petsnails.proboards.com/user/3565 I believe, are looking for (LEGAL) snails for sale in the US. Does anyone know of anywhere? I tried snailsinthemail but they require a $1000 permit, apparently. Also, I bought some on Ebay but the seller isn't active atm. I'd pretty much buy any snails that didn't have to be bought in bulk and weren't too expensive. I love snails and all the species, although I've only kept 3 species. Thanks!

Thank you for posting this! You're welcome. The Canada/USA shipper thread OP hasn't been on in a while, so I figured I'd better make this thread:).

Yeah snail dealers are very hard to come by here in Canada and in the USA. Both countries actually have a lot of nice native land snails, but it's just that they tend to be spread apart soooo far! Where I am, I rarely find more than 5 different species living in the same area.

I might try to go up state and find some banana slugs this summer.

I'm in the US and have a few baby snails I would consider selling to US buyers... no charge for the snails, just for whatever it costs me to ship them. Please PM me for details, and I'll try getting some pics of the little guys

I've got Flamed Tigersnails (Anguispira alternata) that I'll part with at a rate of 3 for $2USD plus shipping costs. I'm asking that much because they're slow to mature and breed. Then there's Triodopsis tridentata that I'll sell at 3 for $1USD. I've also got Sculptured Domes (Ventridens collisella), but those won't be available until they breed some more and the existing babies get larger.
Because I have at least 3 species of potentially rare snail that I'm unable to identify or find any info on, and came from varying parts of the midwest/great white north, I'll offer a grab-bag of 16 of these snails for $5USD.
I'll do a count of my populations later and report back with exact numbers (and pics).

If not then i'd like to have a set of them and a set of Anguispira alternata (if you have that many to spare). It would be awesome to see pictures of the unidentified if possible.

Hello, this is Mark. It looks as though your unidentified Wisconsin snails could be either one of the Retinella species or perhaps even a Zonitoides. I'd lean more to Retinella personally due to their yellowish shells.

Thanks a bunch! I'll look into these guys some more now that I have a place to start. Little brown snails are like little brown mushrooms. They practically all look the same and some are near impossible to differentiate.

Wow, I didn't expect such demand! I'm about wiped on my current populations for all of the available snails, so I'm not taking any more orders until they breed some more. However, I have enough to complete the orders I have pending. I'll post a separate thread when I have more stock available.

If you have a car you can try your luck and venture out to capture some of America's cooler/rarer species it has to offer for your customers.

I just got a Jeep the other day, so I've actually been considering this. Oh, the places I can go and the snails I can see (and catch)!

This actually makes me feel really good in knowing that if I accidentally miss some eggs and have some babies I could find some homes for them here in the states.

I figured a few of these unidentifieds out after viewing them in person. The northern Wisconsin snails are in fact Dull Gloss Snails (Zonitoides limatulus) and the Logan County unidentified is a Toothed Globe (Mesodon zaletus). Just thought I'd give you the heads up.

Whoops! I made an error regarding the identification of the Logan County unidentifieds. I originally based my findings on the characteristics of the aperture but failed to determine whether or not an umbilicus was visible. Upon re-examination, the umbilicus turned out to be concealed which only leads to one genus of the Polygyridae occupying southern Kentucky and that is Patera. From what I can tell, these are (Patera laevior)commonly known as the Smooth Bladetooth. Other similar species exist but tend to be found in more localized populations scattered throughout the eastern US but are not nearly as widespread as P. laevior. Patera is closely related to Triodopsis which also explains many of their shell similarities. Sorry everyone for the inconvenience and confusion.

I dont seem to be having any luck finding them on my own (found several creepy crawlies and a snake though! lol).
