Howdy gang, Just thought I'd share this picture, I was just checking on the snails and one of the cats joined me to have a look but once she smelled the cat food in there she decided that it was not for sharing and she would like it back please! They prefer salad anyway...and the bone from a lamb shank...odd little creatures. Jemma

Haha! Cats and snails are great pets, aren't they? That's a very pretty tank setup, by the way!

Thanks bmo, this is it now, I added some woodlice (hence the wood) to keep the mold and fungus growth down.

What a brilliant setup! What do you have growing in the upper left-hand corner? (Looks like Rosemary from here.) Snaggle doesn't like the cushion moss and trying to grow algae on the wood, but all I end up with is mold. Never would have thought of woodlice. I have many branches in the tank, but after a while the algae stops growing. I tend to stay away from rocks for fear of that ominous "clunk" in the night. I took out anything harder than bark and branches, except for the terracotta pots that I stand his romaine and other greens up in. I have two cats as well and yes, snails and kitties make great pets!

There's nothing actually growing, the pink plant and grass are fish tank decorations and the green furry stuff is some sort of moss I found in the woods!
I had branches but as you say, they're so moldy! So I took 'em out, blocks of wood seem fine but branches I've given up on!
I hear all sorts in the night, but of course as soon as you lift the lid all is still and quiet...and right side up!
Snaggle's a cool name, how did he get it? I just rescued one from the watering can, filled it with scalding hot water to clean the decking and didn't realise it was in there, it's doing ok now, I named it Arrow...the original singer of the song 'I'm feeling hot hot hot!'

i'ld be careful regarding the hard rocks and dropping from the roof of the tank - which can crack their shells if they land on them. but otherwise lovely, especially the plant pot house

Jemma I find the branches ony get moldy if I don't remove them and let them dry out after a day or two. Depends on the humidity. I have about 20 branches I rotate, but if I leave the glass lid down over the screen, overnight, mold in the morning. Snaggle is short for Snagglepuss, a pink mountain lion, an old cartoon character. I just called him Snagglepuss one day and it stuck. I like the name and the character!
