Does anyone know how to acquire a live Murex (aka Hexaplex) Trunculus sea snail by way of the internet, or phone? To have it shipped to the continental U.S. ? Thanks, Eryt

Thanks, Eryt Are you looking for one as a pet? If you are looking for one to extract dye from, I'm afraid we are a forum dedicated to the care of snails as pets, and it's unlikely that anyone here would be willing to supply a snail to be killed and used to make dye.

Perhaps I should have specified I meant as a pet, not a dye source.

I've never heard of this species before so I googled it later and found out why they use it as dye now.

It probably wont be the easiest thing in the world finding one. some online aquarium stores have other murex, but not trunculus specifically.
