Hello Everyone! I'm Charles! You can call me charles124 if you would like. I got into snails a couple moths ago and since then it has blown up into a great hobby and interest of mine. I have been using this forum as a go-to-guide for all concerns and have learned quite a lot. I have met a couple of you but feel that I should properly introduce myself and meet new people who are into snails.
I live in Florida. I have 3 Zachrysia Provisoria, 6 Tramp Snails, and I used to have an Amber Snail(he recently passed away due to old age[they have very short life spans]). I am looking to get a couple of new snails about the same size as my Zachrysia and am very open to anyone that is interested in trading or selling(any snails, really). Just PM me if you are interested in that. I have a 6 gallon terrarium and feed my snails nightly a mixture of carrots, romaine lettuce, and mushrooms. I wanted to share my snails and terrarium and I am very open to any suggestions or comments you guys have as I am still a bit new to having snails.
My Terrarium:
With a ceramic pot as a hiding spot(though my Zachrysia prefer to burrow during the day), about 12 stalks of a very leafy terrarium plant that the snails enjoy to both climb and occassionally snack on(some of the Tramp snails enjoy sleeping under the leaves, it is a great plant and does well in shallow soil and no sunlight. I also have a rock with a nice layer of moss on it that the snails enjoy laying on, I have a flipped over reptile food dish as a water dish/food dish, I have about 2 inches of coconut substrate, A more traditional fern in the corner, and a couple chunks of cuttle layed out for them.
My Amber Snail:
My Zachrysia Provisoria:
They are Pretty Social
One of my Zachrysia with my Amber snail(snuggling!):
One of my Zachrysia climbing on one of the terrarium plants and bending it!(Luckily, they are flexible plants, lol)(Sorry for the poor quality of a lot of these pictures. I am not the best photographer and my Iphone is rather crappy with picture taking):
My Tramp Snails:
This one is rather Photogenic!:
Let me know what you guys think! (mangoandlemon , Liguus , & drowningindemons , share this post with some of your snail colleagues! I would love some of their feedback as well as your own!).
