Beautiful snails! I find it very interesting that the Cepaea in that region have slightly more subdued colors. Any specific ideas as to why? And the dark-skinned Pomatia are fantastic.

Beautiful snails! I find it very interesting that the Cepaea in that region have slightly more subdued colors. Any specific ideas as to why? And the dark-skinned Pomatia are fantastic. Probably just my bad photography skills. I was messing around with the light balance on the camera and realized the pics from my iPod had a filter on them lol. Like the pic with the blue lid: that was a dumb filter mistake. The cepaea colors are the same as in the U.S., just with more variety.

Wow! They are stunning! I wish I could find snails like this in America. Helix pomatia, Cepaea nemoralis, Limax maximus and Arianta arbustorum can all be found in North America, but the problem is just the geographic distances between some of the species, as well as other issues.
