Shes been asking a few people. Yes they are illegal in the US with the exception of tigers BUT you need a license. So I read.

check out this site:- www.aphis.usda.gov/lpa/issues/ga_snail/ga_s_images.htmlas far as I can tell ALL GALS are illegal in the US. There is the old story from 1960 when one boy smuggled 3 back and his grandmother released them. 7 years later they collected 18,000 during the clearup! Because they could survive outdoors there and have no natural predators you can understand why they are illegal! Brian.

they are illegal in the whole us, however diff states ahve diff rules.
it states that gals of any sort can not be traded or transffered across state lines, so cannot be broguht into the country, but theres kinda of an amnesty for thsoe who already have them in most states.
although some will destroy them all.

and your the one liable for the massive fien and legal proceedings. Actually, the responsibility lies with the importer, there is nothing you can be charged for as an exporter. Plus, you live in a different country. It is like the UK prosecuting an African for sending snails that you ordered.

its slightly different in thsi isntnace though.
as your sending a prohibited item you cna be prosecuted.

I don't agree with that, you don't come under the jurisdiction of another country or continent. DEFRA and CEFAS told me that the responsibility lies with the importer.
Also, you can get a licence to own them in the US. But, it is expensive and you have to build a good case for owning them.

Yes, I assume Scientific research is probably the only time you're allowed to own them.

Yeah, probably put you on a international terrorism database and blow stuff up in your country. Speaking of which, there is a discussion somewhere on the net about how it IS possible under the new anti-freedom, sorry, terror laws to classify you as a terrorist for releasing African snails, because it is Ecological terrorism!!!
