This morning my unbanded brown shelled brown lipped snail died. I saw it in the container with it's body out completely still with a "parched" look to it. I took it out, poked it a little, and bathed it, but nothing happened. Thankfully I removed it quickly enough to avoid that rotten fish smell.
Dead on the counter
Last month in June while it was healthy and alive.
Well, it was definitely a nice time while this mollusc was alive and it also had a better appetite than some of my other fussy brats.
I'm going to assume old age, because when I did pick it off a tree last year, it was a full sized adult that was probably several years old, so maybe this year was it's last? Another thing that was an indicator of it's death coming was the constant fairly deep retractions shortly after it would feed and move about. It also had poor suction (typical old age snail thing) and would fall of the roof a lot.
