Hello ! After waiting toooo long... ( ) i finally got my young Archatina marginata ovum. I am pleased to show you : We love its dark skin, and after a few minutes to recover from the trip, it turned curious, not very scared, and hungry ! After a quick shower under running warm water, we put it in is new habitat : It left the pieces of zucchini and leaves of chard that we gave its, but it has eaten all leaves of dandelion, then it has go to burrow into a foam ball. Here is a picture of its habitat, I cut the side of the box and replace it with a piece of plexiglass : I hope it goes well get used to us, and now I have to try to find a second of the same species to keep it company. Thank you for reading !

He's a cute little guy! Nice setup, too. How exactly did you put that plexiglass on? I'd like to do something like that with my snail bin.

After a long time, some news ! But first : Thank you Etana and Cliath for your comments. Malacophile : I just stuck my piece of plexiglas, but I can not say what would be the equivalent of the glue/adhesive I used in your country... It is a glue/adhesive (what is the right word ?) that does not reject (too) toxic when dry, in France people with ants also use them (the ants are very vulnerable to toxic products). I thought it would be appropriate for snails, especially since they do not have direct access (the plexiglas is stuck to the plastic of the original box). It is an adhesive that can be found in hardware stores, like this one (but not exactly this, there are many different in the same range...) Some news of my margie : I was looking for at least an other Marginata ovum. I finally found it, and I got a person with a francophone forum two very cute little Margies albinos on october : It was necessary, my big margie is much more active since he lives with others. It grows well ! August 26 : October 18 : Decembre 8 : The two litle guys albinos weigh 31 grams et 27 grams, and the biggest 128 grams ! Bon appétit ! Here mushromm "de paris", cucumber, and butternut squash. Thank you for taking the time to read me !

Ooh, I'm sure your bigger Margie is thrilled to have these new friends! Your photos are always great to see, but I particularly like the one where the albino climbs up the stick.

I was wondering if you would be able to provide more pictures of how you've set up their box? My snails have recently moved to a large box and I'm looking for inspiration to decorate it. Thank you in advance!

Yes, same as rhianna - info on what's in your tank. My tank is positively boring compared and I'd like to go all natural looking whilst being safe and exciting for Archie and his soon to be friend

Hello ! It was a long time without news ! I confess language barrier is a real problem for me, and write a short text is accompanied of a lot of pain for me ! I hope my words are still sufficiently comprehensible. I read some questions about my tank. In june 2015 I had tinkering a new tank. The first was defective particularly on its cover, on which was fixed the heating mat (sometimes a bit complicated for remove entierely the cover because of the electric wire). I'm going to try to write a tutorial in a new post, meanwhile that's what it looked : It was convenient because the heat mate was on right side, and the cover could be entierely remove without difficulty. length : 70 cm Last month I finally bought a real terrarium, because I wanted more length and plastic box are not big enough for the huge snails that are the mature marginata ovum. Measure of this terrarium : 90 cm My Archachatinas marginata ovum have grown up. Last year I have had many births, and I sold one of my two albino, because in the future I will wish to acquire another margie which is not related to those I have already (I talk about genetics), and I intend to keep one or two juveniles of theirs eggs-laying. Actually I have two adults margies (my dark skinned and a albinos), and a dozen of juveniles (born in end of septembre / beginning of october). I think to keep one or two. One baby of the group has an amazing growth : others are all 8 cm of shell and they weigh +/- 65 grammes, but this young margie is yet 11 cm of shell and it weigh more than 115 grammes ! I'm curious to see if its growth is about to slow down soon or not (they only have 7 or 8 months). Weight of my two first : .....................Dec14......Fev15......Juin15.....Aout15......Dec15.....Avr16 Margie 1.......128 gr.......205 gr......266 gr......331 gr.....312 gr......322 gr Albi ...............31 gr.........93 gr......164 gr......217 gr.....246 gr......245 gr Some recent pictures ! Some juveniles with mumdaddy : Thank you all for your interest for this amazing species of giant snails ! And thank for all your comments : saskia1982, cliath, etana, missjuniper, muddydragon, mangoandlemon, rhianna22, Zorst, Shedara... and all readers. Etana : I'm sure your bigger Margie is thrilled to have these new friends!Me : his behavior has greatly changed with the arrival of two other and it became much more active and less shy. I think these large snails are not made to live alone. muddydragon : Margies are my favourite species of snail.Me : yes, they are mine too ! rhianna22 : I love how you've decorated their homeMe : thank you, I specially try to bring diversity in their terrarium to enrich their environment. rhianna22 / pilsburypie : I was wondering if you would be able to provide more pictures of how you've set up their box?Me : I'm sorry not to be returned earlier on the forum, I would have answered with pleasure, it's a bit late now ! Did you arrange your terrarium as desired ? Shedara : Do you know size of parents your snail? It`s very interesting for me!Me : the shell of my dark skinned margi is more 15 cm, my albinos is about 13 cm. It is already very big ! Thank you all for reading !

Thank you Cashell for your comment. Albinos are amazing, but I think I prefer dark skinned margies. I would like to have diluted colors, type "moka".
