Looks nice, but I would get rid of the stone - they will crack their shells if they fall onto it, especially as your tank looks quite tall. Good point, I'll have a rethink,.

No, I'm a bit of a hippy, I prefer elbow grease with a sprinkling permaculture.

As promised, here's my terrarium with the snails in. They all love the moss and hiding in the moss

I wish I had a nice mossy tank like that but I'm paranoid I'll bring in some nasty bugs lol. I added a small "log hide" to mine from the petstore, and sowed some catgrass to see if they would eat it. So far they are not interested so I think I'll plant some more seeds in the terrarium to give it more plant cover. I'm mainly trying to add enough plants so that they suck up the water from the subtrate. I would prefer to shower the terrarium everyday, but as of now its still getting too soggy. I was going to add some branching wood as well, but it costs a ridiculous amount of money!

Your tank is pretty nice, and your snails are very cute.

Do your GALS go up the polythene?

Do your GALS go up the polythene? Yes, they are fine with it. I use bubble wrap with tin foil as an insulator.

I thought it was just water proofing wouldn't have thought a viv would have needed insulation

I thought it was just water proofing wouldn't have thought a viv would have needed insulation Many exotic snails need more than room temperature to thrive. It's a good idea to equip the tank with both a heating mat and some insulation, especially if your room temperature is many degrees below the snails' ideal temperature - with insulation, the temperature in the tank will be easier to maintain, and the heating may need to be on less, sparing your electricity bills. I've used kitchen foil and towels myself too when the cold of last winter surprised me and my snails and I had to get the temperature to rise fast. It helps a surprisingly long way! After that, the cheapest insulation board you can find will be a nice (and cheap!) long-term solution that's also easy to modify to look the way you want it to, by painting it, sticking wallpaper on it, or whatever you like.
