Hi everyone! I've given a bath and and oil shell treatment to my snails yesterday to celebrate the end of Peanut, Choco, Capuccino and Marble's quarantine. As soon as they got in the bath, they kept climbing on each other. It even got worse when they got introduced with Rainbow and Lemonade! Is this a normal acting for cepaea nemoralis? My sister thinks that it is either a game or a "battle", as the winner (the one which would stand on the shell) would be some kind of "leader", though none of us are certain. Unfortunately, I have no picture, so I can't show you what exactly happened. Also, Capuccino and Peanut looked like "kissing" for a moment, though I didn't see their pennis. Is this normal too? Do they have some chance to get babies? Thanks in advance! Seastar

It sounds like they were excited to be showered, which sounds about to normal to me.
As for mating behaviour, they tend to look like they're "quarreling" sometimes and may nip at each other. The penis on this species is black or dark grey, so you may notice a black circle at the side of the snail's face.

It's pretty normal for snails to crawl over each other! Once, my Limax Flavus slug (roughly twice the size of my largest Aspersa at this point) climbed onto one of my Aspersa's shells and curled up to take a ride! The Aspersa even managed to take him pretty far, in snail terms.
And the kissing may have been just them saying hello and then going on their way, but it also could have been very early courting behavior. I've noticed with my snails that they'll "kiss" and then go snailing off in different directions, but then turn and come back to kiss again. It'll go on for ages before they actually get around to actually mating. And sometimes, they may just decide they're not in the mood after all.

Thank you Cashell and scar66! I understand why they climb on each other now. It was a bit funny (like Choco tried to get on Marble who tried to get on Peanut who tried to get on Capuccino who tried to get on Choco), though I'm still a beginner after all!
As for the kissing, when I looked at Peanut and Capuccino, they were on Lemonade's shell, and I couldn't help thinking about two people kissing in movies.
Thanks again, I'm reassured now!

Yeah, they don't like baths too much, they prefer showers. LOL

A few days ago, I gave my snails a bath and an oil shell treatment because their shells were getting white (ish...) and came to a conclusion: they absolutely HATE baths.

Haha that's so weird. My Aspersas LOVE baths. They have a water bowl in their terrarium, and there's almost always one in it unless it's dried up. Showers, on the other hand, tend to make them retract back into their shells for a second! I do have one that'll come out and enjoy moving water, but most of 'em are definitely more bath-oriented.

If you want some picture of my snails in their bath, here's one: In the picture, Rainbow and Choco were aestivating (if that's the way to write it). They woke up a few minutes later and got in the "ESCAPE THE WATER!" gang. LOL

So my snails were getting to know each other but then they just started to climb on each other so I decided to take them away from each other but they got back on each other so does it mean they are mating or fighting Snails just like to climb on things, including each other, so I doubt they were mating or fighting. Generally they will try to climb anything you put them next to. Can snails eat watermelon also can I tell the fender of my snail my the length of his_her eyes Yes snails can eat watermelon. Not sure I'm quite understanding the second question, but if you are asking how you can tell the gender of snails, most land snails are hermaphroditic and don't have separate sexes.
