I found this picture. It shows the relations of how many bands a Cepaea will have in certain habitats. I hope to soon go Cepaea hunting so I can find some unbanded ones.

Yes, the shell color is selected for by the environmental pressures, mainly predation from birds if I remember correctly. Unbanded snails should be common in grassland and open habitat since the pure yellow or pure orange color blends in the most.

Oddly enough, I've been to a few areas that have all morphs, but such locations aren't widespread.
