For example this is from the 1927 edition of D. Geyer "Unsere Land- und Süßwassermollusken" (Our Land and Freshwater Molluscs). OK, it is in black and white, but I admire the clarity and the fineness of structures. (Besides, this is still one of the best books on German molluscs, regardless of its age). I've published a couple of collections of my poetry in Norwegian. To translate Norwegian poems is not easy, but I've tried:
Pen on paper
flourish like a snail's scribbling
leaves a trail of
sparkling
slime
From under heavy stones
words I can not lift
crawls the snail
with a shell so thin
like air
like me
in front of you
I have snails in my palms
soft bodies with eggs and sperm
in one shell
like I have two genders in my skull
one for the past
one for the future
In a world where two sexes
fit in the shell of one snail
drawn together in a spiral
do I crawl out and become male

Thank you! Both my books got good reviews. I'm working on translating a bunch of poems to English, but the progress is very slow since I have to do it in my own spare time and rely on friends helping me without pay.

"Snailular" is my new favourite word.
A bit unsure how to incorporate it into everyday use though.
