I love poetry and snails, so here is a poem about snails _ From the egg I hatch beneath mud and grass I must dig to the top If I am to last I see tentacles flying Once I reach the surface The slime trails stretching, Shining, like lace I see the green foliage The water dish too I see the soil spattered With thick streams of goo My instincts take over, I crawl to a leaf The sweet taste of lettuce I wouldn't taste beneath I am in captivity In human care But just to be careful I'll go back to my lair Hope you like it! I am reading "The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating" by Elizabeth Tova Bailey. This little book is a literary gem, full of love, insight, and is beautifully written. I have been working on a series of slug sculptures and I would love to get critiques from folks who know them. Not sure how to attach pictures from my phone but I do have several on my etsy account
under BugduJourByGale. I have been going for large size and vibrant colors, including the pink slug, Carpathian blue slug, Banana slug, black slug and leopard slug.
My background is in zoology and I try to get as life like as possible.
Also I would love suggestions for other species to do.

Thanks! Here are two needle felted snails. I was going to make them into brooches by attaching the pin to the backside, then decided they look too childish to be worn by a 30 year old.  I needle felt too! I’ve never made a snail although I should! |
