Has anyone ever tried feeding snails Bok Choy? We have a lot of it in the house currently and I was wondering if they would like it at all

I've given mine bok choy and they loved it. I think they find it to be a nice in-between of lettuce and cabbage. More substantial than lettuce, but easier to eat than cabbage.

I have fed my snails in my outdoor snail sanctuary but never tried it with my pet snails so I think I'll give it a go. Thanks malacophile vallery

You're welcome. There are also different varieties of bok choy. Some have pretty thick, leathery leaves, and some are more like the texture of Swiss chard or spinach. My snails have shown an affinity for both, even though I expected them to prefer the thinner-leaved varieties.

Well, I tried a type of bok choy on my snails, aaand it didn't exactly go over so well; they ate a bare minimum and it starts to smell awful if it's in there for more then a day. But it could be because my guys are native to Canada and they never tried it before. Sweet potato and any type of mushroom is devoured in a night though and Ekki, Melek, and Alek seem to enjoy almonds a lot!

Years ago, I might have tried bok choy with my snails and I don't think it went too well, but I'm not 100% certain as I don't really remember, so I might consider doing an up to date experiment on this to find out.

Just to add some input, I have just tried some coconut and confirmed that my snails like it (they are Helix Aspersa). It also seems to keep fairly well in the tank...but they can't seem to eat it very quickly (probably because it's so hard to chew).
I also tried out some peanut butter on the suggestion of another forum member (can't remember who) but they don't seem to like it at all. Too bad, really.
Lastly I tried out some fresh cilantro, which I was convinced they wouldn't like since it's so strong tasting, but they love it! I put in a small bunch of leaves and it was entirely gone this morning! So, yeah, if you've got some cilantro growing in the windowsill, give your snails some!

Ohhh that's exotic! Maybe I should try coconut on my snails... That's if I don't eat it all for myself!

You know how sometimes you buy a coconut in the store and open it and sometimes it's a bit old and doesn't taste as sweet or good anymore? I got one of those recently, so I just gave them some. They don't seem to mind it's older taste at all! So, yeah, if you get a bad coconut from the store now you know what to do with it! Hmm...I'm thinking about trying to put the coconut in a food processor to make a paste. They might like it better since it'd be easier to chew...

It's the same thing I did when I was doing my seed experiments, only I pounded them manually and the neos and flamed tigersnails liked it. With a coconut, I would never attempt to pound it manually!

Let me know how it turns out! I use my blender to make fresh coconut milk and it normally just turns the coconut into those tiny little pieces you see in store bought coconut, they may eat that up a little easier though

The snails don't seem much interested in it, and now that I've observed them further, I'd have to say that their liking of coconut in general is more on the moderate side. Oh well, you could try it with your snails and see how it goes...

Oooh, I finally had a hit! I tried some daikon radish with them, and they love it! I imagine normal red radishes would work just as well...

I've fed my snails sliced red radishes many times before and the radishes always end up with their skin missing, cavities, and then the snails poop everywhere!

I'm thinking of putting both of those to the test later.

Okay I have a result! The snails loved the turnip quite a lot, but wouldn't touch the beets. I have also tried papaya with them, and they seem to like that too!

For the beets, I tried the greens and the beetroot, and they wouldn't eat either.

I suppose they're afraid of turning their faces red?

I suppose they're afraid of turning their faces red? I can tell you what, that's the reason I don't eat beets anymore as well! I kept staining everything on accident (including splashing beet juice onto a shirt and carpet and staining both). So yeah, there can be no more beets in my house!

Snails poo north, west, south, east, left, right, centre, top and bottom!

Hello, I was just about to make my snails a nutrient mash mix and spotted this huge bag of sesame seeds in the cupboard. (un tampered with anything) I read on here about using the sesame oil on their shells but wondered does anyone feed them on it? I will crush them down. Thanks
