Having kept and bred snails for many years, I am finding it most difficult to identify the species from the pictures you have sent due to them being out of focus and the fact a flashlight may have been used. I also feel that the photos sent both to myself and to the forum are misleading because in natural light the shells and body colouring are much darker. The colouration of the shell indicates that the species is more than likely a Tiger Snail, but the body colouration is too light. This is more than likely due to the flashlight on the camera creating a lighter picture all round (I do find this happens regularly when taking pictures of snails, the light bounces off the damp body to cause a lighter effect). Variations do occur in the flesh colour although most works describe the flesh of being black, but Tiger Snails I have kept do have variations in the flesh colours, from a dark black flesh to in the odd case, a light brown flesh. I also see from the forum (which I have accessed), that you are being told the snails in question are fulica. From my knowledge fulica have a pale, smooth slimy body whereas the Tiger Snails have a darker, rough looking body, which the snails supplied have.

Snailman, sarah is an expert on collecting fulcia. And shes right, they couldnt be mistaken for tigers. Check for a V on the tail mandy if youre in any doubts, Tigers have a distinctive vshape on the top of the tail end of the body.

From the pictures (the 2nd one is quite clear) I'd say they're almost certainly fulica, mandywith9 what colour is they're columella? The colouration of the shell indicates that the species is more than likely a Tiger Snail Snailman, I dont think they're shell colouration looks anything like tiger snails that Ive seen Some of my tiger snails-

I agree that they're fulica, no tiger snail I've seen online has had brown flesh, if it's got brown flesh and no V it's probably a fulica, if it's got brown flesh and a Vm then it might be a margie. Am I right?
Also if it is the same person I emailed - they admitted they were fulica and said they'd alter the listing.
Edited to add - they dont look like margies though.

Ok, just had a look at the thread on the classifieds bit about this ebay item, and now it seems the seller has altered it to say they are fulica.
Basically I think it's wise to learn from mistakes, dont bother with this person again. It all seems a little sus to me.

Edited to add - they dont look like margies though. margies, and all other Archachatina has a blunt apex, if the snails have a pointed apex then they're Achatina, or Lissachatina like the snails in this thread.

no tiger snail I've seen online has had brown flesh It does happen, a few of my tiger babies are developing brown skin but it still has a very rough texture.
