I know that feeling. I was handling my baby snail one day and I dropped it in the kitchen with who knows what's on the floor! Luckily, no shell breaks. I would probably just keep him moist.

Died in hibernation. I think it was a she. It's hard to sex apple snails. I did all I could... It was a huge shock when I saw you floating without your shell, at first I didn't think it was you but then I checked your shell... I don't know what I'll do without you, you spiced up my goldfish tank.
It's really bad because I've had two snail deaths in a row. I've seriously been thinking giving up snails as I don't seem to have luck with them.
R.I.P Jeffery My first ever apple snail I hope you go munch in the cucumbers in the sky.

They do breed pretty fast. It would not be so reasonable to see a difference with only three worms in there. I would probably take them out for a while at least to breed them so that if any of them get lost in substrate changes, you have a worm farm you can rely on.

I gently picked his shell up and he's almost gone, there's just a little bit left. I just realised, he was a gardener. Munching down the weeds until his dying day, then fertilising with his body. I'm gonna keep his shell and grow a plant in it.

They do indeed seem fertile. From your description, they've become opaque, which is usually developing snails.

I would leave them for three to four weeks. I am unsure of their fertile state, but even so, I would leave them for a while so that you can be sure of it. If they have no change after a while, I'd dispose of them by putting them outside. You never know if they'll hatch or not, if you put them outside they might hatch.

Quite a while, but I'd suggest fretting about it after about a month. If he is in hibernation, I'd smell him just to be sure. If he died, he can be spoiling the water. My snail has been in constant hibernation because, even though there's a heater in there (It doesn't go too high due to coldwater in tank as well as sub tropical), it is in the middle of winter. I'd suggest waking him up ASAP because it's probably not good for the snail. I thought I lost mine a while ago because she was just NOT moving. Also, just saying, but these snails have different sexes, so if you plan to breed them, I'd look up how to sex them so you can be sure of not trying to get boys to mate boys or vice versa. Oh, and, if you have Ramshorn snails in there, I read about how they try to mate with other snails, too, and I saw a pic of one trying on an apple snail. Just a small warning as it doesn't seem to healthy for either of them.

I really shouldn't have taken him in when I saw him about two centimetres inside his shell, I knew he was gonna die, but I just really wanted to bring him from the brink of death again. I forgot to bury him, I hope the backyard won't stink, another thing I worry about. I don't want to touch him now, though, because he probably stinks.

That's so cute! Good to know he can hunt, a hunting spider that couldn't hunt won't live very long!

I read this on an online goldfish site when I was planning for a goldfish: "You should put your hand in the water so the fish flakes sink, otherwise the fish can get swim bladder disorder from eating the air as well as the flakes." Maybe you can weigh it down a bit faster by doing the above? Also, if you have fish, if they start swimming sideways/upside down, and you KNOW it's not dropsy(Usually fatal thing in fish), it might have swim bladder disorder. Fix this by feeding it peas.

My apple snail is always in hibernation, too, but now I'm a bit worried for her because she's been there in one spot for a while. You should probably buy water conditoner because tapwater has chlorine in it. If you get water conditioner you can still use tapwater, just put the stuff in the tank and I think mix it. I would look at The Apple Snails Website or whatever it's called, it has a problems/sickness page on it. Sorry I couldn't be much of a help.

I've decided to bump this so it stays at the top so there's more chance of finding it. Apparently you didn't find him, I'm sorry if you didn't! I drew you a picture, but I didn't know if you saw it or not.

I think he might have gone to snailie heaven, I'm sorry. The bad smell is usually a bad sign. Is he creating milky fluid from his shell? If so, I think you might need a new snail.

And do NOT give them beer. It kills them a lot faster. That's why gardeners leave "beer traps" lying around, to drown the poor snails! They are very attracted to it, but I've heard it can be very bad for them.

Aww...
I know how you must feel... My snail died yesterday. He was the first one that had died. I would freeze him to put him out of his pain... You don't know if they're in pain even if they are sliming around... I'm sorry, but I think he must be frozen...

Just to be safe, I'd put in mourning geckoes. I wouldn't risk other species due to the fact that they might eat the snails!
