I recently found a small brown Cuban snail. There's a post of them on another thread. But the bigger one, Simon, seems to loose his grip a lot and fall. I was holding him and he just lost his grip and fell on my shirt. It's happened numerous times and idk why. He has calcium and he eats his veggies but he falls a lot? Is he sick? Is jt common with young snails? Want to make sure he's okay. His enclosures humid and sprayed often so he's not falling because he's dry .

Is polymer clay safe for snails? I was thinking of making custom food bowls for them out of clay. And hides ex. You bake it so it seems like after its baked it should be safe? I think it's safe for fish? Not sure. If it's not are there any Clays that are? Thanks in advance

drowningindemons, you can trade virtually any snail or slug species within Florida that is not protected and not listed as injurious, such as Achatina, Helix/Cornu, Liguus (I believe is protected), etc. What you have listed are the snails you are allowed to ship outside of the state without permits. So, even though you would need a permit to ship Zachrysia out of state, you would not need a permit to ship them intrastate (within Florida only). Oo. So sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the clarification

Anyone selling
Caracolus Marginella Orthalicus floridensis Orthalicus reses nesodryus Drymaeus multilineatus Drymaeus dormani Drymaeus dominicus Helicina clappi Helicina orbiculata Chondropoma dentatum
Because on another thread it said they are non invasive and you can ship them

It used to be deeper. But the snails would dry up underneath and their slime would get all crusty

I know this isn't really a problem but it's more in the "help" catagory. Is this a good habitat for Cuban brown snails? i.imgur.com/ulM3k6b.jpg I'm not sure Should I add any thing? Thanks in advance Drowningindemons

Yes, Zachrysia are an invasive pest (at least in florida where they can survive the winter) and they cannot be shipped across state lines as they may get established in places like california or texas. There are a few snails native to florida (and even some non-native species) that are legal to be shipped anywhere across the US. These include Caracolus Marginella Orthalicus floridensis Orthalicus reses nesodryus Drymaeus multilineatus Drymaeus dormani Drymaeus dominicus Helicina clappi Helicina orbiculata Chondropoma dentatum Read more: petsnails.proboards.com/thread/15126/legal-land-snails-confirmed-species#ixzz3lSjdmN2bThanks so much!

Some people say Cuban brown snails are invasive. Some say they are. I'm confused. What are some Florida snails that are non invasive and legal to ship? Thanks Drowningindemons

The ingredients seem safe, but it is not a good idea to coat all of their food in this as they could overdose on calcium (and possibly die). Maybe as a treat not so often I put their calcium in a banana cucumber smoothie kinda thing but mostly calcium so it's all white. It's in a bowl km the corner so they can eat it only if they want it's not on their food. Unless a snail has a shell problem I sprinkle a bit every so often but that hasn't happened in a while

It is under my impression that interstate and intrastate travel of Helix aspersa is illegal, since they are listed as injurious. However, if you found them in the wild locally, I'm sure they are legal to own. I think only the GALS and GSALS are prohibited to own. Here is a list of what is considered injurious to the state of Florida: 5B-43.003 Snails Injurious to Florida Agriculture. The following snails shall be considered as injurious to Florida agriculture, and entry into or distribution within the state is prohibited. This prohibition includes live plant-feeding snails in all stages of development, intended for consumption or for any other purpose. Dead, canned or non-living processed snails are exempt from the provisions of this chapter. (1) Snails. (a) Achatina spp. (Example: giant African snail). (b) Helix spp. (Example: brown garden snail). (c) Theba pisana Muller (white garden snail). (d) Megalobulimus oblongus (Muller) (giant South American snail). (e) Any other plant-feeding snail which may be determined by department order or rule to be injurious to Florida agriculture. Rulemaking Authority 570.07(23), 581.031(1) FS. Law Implemented 581.031(6) FS. History–New 6-15-81, Amended 8-18-85, Formerly 5B-43.03. Other than this, unless the snail is protected, no permit is needed for intrastate transportation. However, I was advised to only distribute (in this case Zachrysia) to counties that have them. It is also noted, only certain species are you eligible to get a permit to ship interstate. Here is a PDF of all the states. www.aphis.usda.gov/plant_health/permits/downloads/snail_matrix.pdfSo if I were to ship brown Cuban snails in Florida there wouldn't be a problem
