I hope it takes Paypal, as no-one takes my Electron card!

it uses paypal, debit/credit cards or cheque psotal order.
but and a big but, ouch at postage prices, they are mad.
the stuff seems cheapish but it seems the costs are beign made up in postage.
can get most of the stuff chepaer elsewhere and mainly due to the extortionate postage prices.

I don't understand that, I've just been on the site and looked through all the postal prices for different weights, based on me adding another 100g item and so on. They are comparative to Royal Mail first class if you bother to look on their website, with a little extra added on, presumably for packaging costs. Heat mats are cheaper than anywhere I can find them including postage, and the prices look cheap to me. So, I don't know what you're on about, selling food by weight is obviously gonna cost to post and as someone who works for a business that owns and runs a few online shops, I think it is reasonable.

Hello Many many thanks for the lovely comments about the site , I'm pleased that everyone seems to like it. I am a little disheartened about the postage comment , my postage prices are based on Royal Mail with less than 50p added for packaging etc. I am in no way , shape or form out to decieve people with hidden postage agenda's. I have noticed a few mistakes that I made on some postage issues and I'll hold my hand up on that one .. albeit now they are corrected won't make much of a difference. I understand that heavier orders can be delivered cheaper than royal mail and I am trying to sort the site out to offer a third party courier for heavier parcels , this is going to take time though ... but if you'd like to order and your order is heavy then please feel free to contact me via the emails provided on the site and I'll take your order seperately and arrange said third party courier. All I am doing is trying to provide a much needed service , I'm not here to fleece people. Sarah I have checked your order and the errors on the site doesn't effect your order so all is okay there , thankyou for ordering too .... you may just find a bonus in the package for being our first customer So once again thanks to all who have given feedback , and I look forward to dealing with you all in the future. Kind Regards Darren @ Invert Supplies

Well for me, living in a naff shopping town, and not being able to go out shopping anyway on most occasions, I think the postage is very reasonable. If you think of what some folks might have to pay in transport charges (ie public transport if they dont drive, if they have to go out of their way to find more unusual things etc) then it's actually well priced Oh and the liquid calcium is well worth the tiny amount it's priced at - it will last ages, as you only use one or two drops per full spray bottle of water ;D I'll be ordering in the future

I put a load of stuff I wanted into the basket to see what it would be and it was only around £5 postage. I'd put 5 litres of the vermiculite in too so I am happy with the postage especially as other sites I've looked at want around £4 JUST for vermiculite!
Will be doing my order later! ;D

You know, that's one thing I can never understand....how litres compare to what you need...erm if you get me. For a 2ft tank, how much would you need? *shrugs*
And that's in no way a whinge about your site Daz, it's me being the thickhead numpty I am ;D

Oooh I did know a way to do that but I've forgotten. I was told it when I was working out how much gravel I would need for my fish tank.
I doubt I'll find it before anyone smart answers though lol.

i am referring to bulk orders, like couriers do stuff up to 30kilos for under a fiver yet on there stuff that cant weigh more then 10 is like 9 pound postage :S
i personally dont do small orders as its unemconomically and pointless for the amount of stuff iuse so the postage prices arent worth it esp as i can get stuff easier and cheaper.
personal opinion, if your happy then use it.

Post by ceiron on Feb 27, 2006 21:13:53 GMT
it works out to 8.05p with postage for 10l of vermiculite o nthere, in b&q its 4.28 and in wilkos its even cheaper.

it works out to 8.05p with postage for 10l of vermiculite o nthere, in b&q its 4.28 and in wilkos its even cheaper. Again, that doesn't make sense. You don't pay postage from Wilkos so the 2 prices are comparative. Some items may not be worth buying online, so if you think that is the case you don't. I bet Wilkos get it cheaper than most smaller shops, so how you expect online shops to sell it as cheap including postage is baffling to me. But in cases where convenience is a factor or you are buying other stuff at the same time, you may decide the postage is acceptable. B&Q no doubt sell enormous bags of cement cheaper than an online retailer who posts via Royal Mail. It's patently obvious.

Sian , the cork bark I have is a huge piece so basically I can break it to more or less any size you want.
Ceiron , I don't quite understand your problem with me/my site?? I have stated that an alternative courier can be arranged for larger orders but you seem pretty hell bent on making me look like some kind of fool!!
Please do tell what the problem is?
I don't intend to be a party to trouble starting on Pauls forum , so I am being very calm about this for respect of Paul and all the members on here.
The whole idea of an online shop is for mainly for the following reasons -
People who can't be bothered to drive round numerous places picking stuff up
or
People who don't have time to do the above
or
People who are disabled (like myself) or don't have the means to do the above.
So therefore your comparisons don't even apply , if people are able to do as your saying then they wouldn't be shopping online anyway .. so what is the problem with that?
If you have a real issue with me or what I am doing then please feel free to PM me or even phone me , my number is on the site in the contact us section.
I am becoming very suspicious about motives behind this , but as I say if you want to contact me then do so.
At the end of the day if people want to use my shop then they will , if they don't then thats cool .... I'm not here waving a big stick at people herding them like sheep ... end of story.
Oh and I am yet to see our local wilko's stock anything that I have seen mentioned on this and other forums .... even had my dad check his local wilko's in the midlands and they don't either ... looks like it's you lucky southerners that are getting the luck.
I hope I have posted this without sounding harsh , nasty or that it is construed to cause trouble ... all I wish to do is state facts and defend myself a little.
Sorry Paul if this escelates but I guarantee that I shall not be coerced into a squabble on your forum.
Many thanks everyone
Daz
