Its weird you should say this because ..................... when i hold them, they always nibble at my hand and it seems to really hurt me and i have red marks on my hand ...... none of my other snails ever ever do that, i have 4 normal fulica, 2 white jades and 2 limis and they all 'suck' my hand but never hurt. Its like these snail have TEETH! ha (i know they havnt)
Im really gutted about your snail, if u can get more info then please let me know as i planned to move my 4 in with my fulica and albinos in about 2 months! x

Ive observed this in a number of species acually, achatina reticulata are particularly quick to feed on siblings when protien is missing from the diet although have also seen it in fulica and iredalei also. Generally there is a reason behind it, a dietry problem normally but also enironmental (cramped conditions or inadequate substrate depth Ive found to be a problem).

What would be regarded as adequate substrate depth? I have a vivarium (3ft long) with 8 mixed snails in it (fulica, fulica jade, reticulata and rodatzi) and yesterday I found one of my Rodatzi with scars all over his head I am now wondering if one of my retics or fulica has rasped on him? I am a bit frugal with my substrate as I like to be able to spot the eggs easily!!! *Note: he does have a terribly jagged shell from a fall a week or so ago - could it maybe be this that has damaged his skin?*

i have slope 8" to 10" deep in the large tanks 3" to 5" deep in the small tanks i also have a large colony of wood lice & brandling worms in them, and now i never have to clean them, apart from the front glass each day. which i use a squeegee to clean the glass. and any dirt i just push to the bottom, and the worms eat it. mind they are kept in there own room i would not like the thought of worms or wood lice in a bed room, although they are harmless.
