Bought some tiger worms online, they arrived today, but in the soil I noticed these large white mites, they are the size of a small ant and quite long, I think they might be springtails (but I'm no expert!!), and was wondering if they are a danger to my snails or not? Advice needed quite as I'm in a hurry to unpack the worms, but don't want to put them in my snail tank if they are harmful! Please help! Thanks!!

I have a 4watt heat mat for my baby snail tank, but no matter what I do the tank is always too cold so was wondering if it'd be safe to just attach the heat mat to the INSIDE of the tank instead?

I recently massively upgraded my snails' home, and it now takes a LOT of soil to fill, so am trying to find ways of cutting down on clean outs!!
I am going to buy 80 tiger worms, which I will divide into my 3 tanks, to help keep the waste down, but would adding worms be enough?? What's the best way to keep Clean outs to a minimum??
I was thinking about trying make a sort of mini ecosystem whereby the tank becomes pretty much self-cleaning and stopped being a cage and became more of a indoor garden or mini 'world'. Is this possible? Is it possible to make a self cleaning habitat??
Thanks for reading ;D

I got 6 Jadatzi babies recently and they were all quite cheap, jadatzi are 2-a-penny at the mo and at cheap prices, but hardly a white jade to be found!! not really complaining though as I do love my Jadatzis!!! <3 In the pic their shell is very yellow and quite jadatzi looking, the babies have grown since the pic was taken and should be brown by now as he says they are as big as a 50p, so I messaged him asking if their shell has started to brown. If so I'll have to continue buying them, but if they do turn out to be Jadatzis I'll try from Bristol inverts!

I just noticed he's listed them as 'albino jades' and now I think about it the pics of the babies do look an awful lot like Jadatzis!!! So I messaged him asking what exactly they are, if they are Jadatzi I really hope he'll cancel my bid!! So looks like I'm still searching for my White Jade Fulica after all!!!

one of my retics is very dark (the one in the pics with her), whereas she and the other one are reddish in comparison. i dont mind too much and I intend to keep her as she is a beautiful snail! Does mean i'm once again on the look out for another white jade fulica though

I thought she looked the same! She's got the same shell texture, the markings are pretty much the same and she's the same colour as my other retic. Just was hoping she was a white jade oh well, I dont suppose Gary and Yuki will mind her moving in with them haha!

Really hope she is Fulica! But she's a gorgeous snail and wouldn't really mind her being Retic, Im sure my 2 guys wouldn't mind her joining them haha

The person I got her from says she can't be a Retic as she got her from a breeder at a trade show and because she's more reddish than my retics...?

So you all think she's a Retic then?? She's a very beautiful snail, prettier than my 2 retics, but really needed a white jade fulica

Oh her shell is smoother than my retics, but it's still reticulated... I just don't know she does look a lot like my retics, just want to be sure before i contact the seller...

He was exactly the same today I water-boarded him and he eventually came out, stuck him on some mushed cucumber and he ate a little of it! Hope it gives him some strength! Just seems so weak! Poor little thing... Wish I knew what was wrong with him :,(

Thinking about drilling just a couple of holes, so only a bit more heat gets in, try and get the temps to 25C as I don't want it to get too hot for my Fulicas tbh, maybe that's the answer? Then it'd be ok if it heated up to 28-30c in summer, if it gets hotter than that I could just unplug the heat mat during the day!

I need some advice quite urgently! I am making a new home for my tigers and Fulica's from a very big storage box, I've attached my heat mat and polystyrene insulation, with it turned off the tank is 18-20C, with it on the temps reach 22-24, I was hoping for 25-30, as I read that is ideal for tigers, should I drill holes in side of tank where heat mat is to raise temps (considering it'll get a lot hotter in summer, and if I raise temps to 25-30 in winter, when summer comes I could be looking at temps raising to 30+ and some cooked snails!)? I REALLY don't know what to do? Advise needed urgently as I have to move them into this new home today, so need to know whether to drill holes or not! Thanks for your time!

I left him over night, but there was no change I meant where new shell growth is, near the head, it's normally thick and almost fleshy looking but with this snail it looks completely dry like theres no new shell growth at all. He was out a while ago and looke ok, but retracted quite deep again a little while after, I think he might be ok though, thinking it must be stress of travel and the cold.. But it's his shell I'm a worried about, only seen a shell like that on dead snails up til now Might try getting pics, but it might be too dark in here for my phone camera

It's shell is dry and brittle, no new shell growth at all, the best way I can discribe the shell is as though it's dead, have left him next to a shallow dish of water and cucumber and am hoping he will perk up over night! He seems very shiveled up and weak, really hope he'll pull through! Thanks for the advice!
