Having a face book page for snails is a great Idea especially one were all of us forum members could be on and post our snail photos etc. If one was created and we were all given the password that would work wouldn't it? Create photo albums on it with our usernames. Does anyone think this would be a possibility? Just have a access link on the forum so we could click and go directly to the page. What do you think?

Back to suzz pet shop:
I like what reckoning suggested about buyers (not discouraging them from returning the snails if they find they are over their head).
Also you could let the buyers know and feel comfortable enough to call the shop if they have any questions about their snails.
I think it is great taking in the snails and educating people about them, but making sure they purchase the proper supplies at your shop before you allow them to purchase the snails, and seriously making sure the proper supplies for the snails are stocked in your store, right down to misting bottles and everything, if you are going to be selling snails in your shop.
I find most pet shops don't have all I need. Which is frustrating. Time consuming to have to go to different stores to find everything.

I usually scrap a bit of cuttlefish bone over the egg and hatchling area so they can have some straight away and I put some very thin small slices of carrot in the area since it doesn't rot but goes sort of rubbery.

I would still love to find out more information on these snails, all I know is they breed like crazy, and eat a lot I put food in there and it is completely eaten within 2 days. they like to stick themselves straight upside down in the earth and stick themselves straight hanging down from the lid like stalagmites and the opposite (can't remember the name). Looks pretty cool. I mist mine only once a day. I bath them in a very fine strainer so they don't go through the holes as the babies are so tiny. I use a spoon to scoop them out of there tank and put them into the bathing strainer because they are so small and there are so many. I have Devils Ivy in their tank and they don't eat it, it does not harm them. And they like to stick themselves to small pieces of bark especially the babies.

The holes punched into the container should be punched from the inside out so snailies don't hurt themselves. The best food to place in there would be something that would get a little hard or rubbery and not rot.

I was wondering who maintains the petsnails website. Is there any way members can post pictures and information on it that is approved by Paul and Mods before posting on there, so there is more information on there? Please. Can there also be something on here This forum) were you can just click on it and it will take you right to the website, like there was before please? Thanks vallery

Hi feelahthetigress , Are you attempting to grow any other types of herbs indoors? I brought in my thyme and sage from outside and was wondering if you have those indoors, if so do you have any tips for keeping them alive in my apartment? Thank You vallery

I created a terrarium for my Pleurodonte Isabella with a large palm, Baltic ivy and a Boston fern plus a hosta. All the plants are doing well in the terrarium and all of the snails as well. This is just with my Pleurodonte Isabella thoughvallery

Can you find someone to take care of them. A month is way too long. Aside from food they need misting every day.

I prefer glass, plastic gets too scratched up when cleaning. 5 gallon terrariums with screen top are pretty light weight that's what I always go for.

I don't think the website gets updated very much. I haven't seen many new changes on there. There is so much good information that could go on there and photos but I am not sure why it doesn't. Maybe Paul is too busy to maintain it. I know there is a huge cache of threads in the Species Pictures for Website post on the forum.

Hi morningcoffee ,
Thank You
I believe I will use your artificial plant with suction cup Idea.
The tanks lid is glass and comes in two pieces so I can place screen on one half of the top and then just use one of the pieces glass top.
I can probably tape the screen to the one half glass that I will be using and suction cup artificial plants to it if that makes sense.
Do you use or have used silk or plastic artificial plants?
Thank you so much for the great Idea.

Hi everyone , I just wanted to share a helpful Idea. I can't post pictures because I still can't figure out how. So hopefully I can explain it well enough. I was building a new tank set up for my Pleurodonte Isabella last night and I came up with an Idea to make a background trestle for their tank since they are always sticking to the side of the tank and mucking it up. So I took some sticks and garden string and made a trestle for the back of the tank, which covers the entire back of their tank. Then I wove Devils Ivy and Baltic Ivy and English Ivy all around the trestle sticks and let some hang down, then dug two holes in the earth and packed the substrate around the bottom of the sticks and plant roots (you could do this with small plastic pots as well). It has worked out great, they love the trestle and are not sticking themselves on the tank walls anymore. I am sure I will get a few sticking themselves to the sides at times were the trestle isn't but this cuts way down on them mucking up the sides with slime and poop. These Ivy plants have always grown well in my tanks and they are tough with broad leaves so the snails can easily sit on the leaves. I am going to re do my other tanks this way. I also have a new very high up right tank. I have my Cepaea nemoralis and Cepaea hortensis in the same tank and I want to separate the species and put one of the species in the high tank up right tank. I am going to try to do a background plant trestle with an over hang like you see grape plants growing on, in the new high tank to see if that will stop the snails I plan to put in there from climbing all the way up to the very top. This tank is about 2 and a half feet high. If anyone has another idea so the snails don't go all the way to the very top I hope you will share it. Thank You vallery

Hi snailboat , That first photo of Dee eating upside down is great I love it. Snaily and Dee are really gorgeous snails, their shells are beautiful and in amazing shape. Do you simply feed them cuttle fish bone or another source of calcium as well. Great photos snailboat thank you for sharing. vallery

Hi greyphoenix,
Love the photo of Shel stretching for some sweet potato and the one of Shel posing for the camera, priceless. A little more calcium couldn't hurt for their shells and a little rub of olive oil now and then helps my snails shells, for all my species. Hope to see some more photos of your little cuties on this thread soon. vallery

Maybe it is a certain strain of mint plant that naturally grows that way. I know there are many types of mint plants. You could try researching the best type to grow in pots in doors or on decks 9if you have one).

I have seen at times when there is a piece of cucumber on their food dish and it is covered with snails, one snail will hang upside down from a branch and stick out his long neck and stretch down with his shell and body still sticking up side down to the branch and just fit his mouth in a little space on the cucumber amongst the snails crowded on the cucumber and he will eat that way. I think that is clever.
